Reggie Bush is unlikely to play on Monday against Green Bay, according to an article published today by The Times-Picayune.
Bush, the article says, participated in the team’s Saturday practice, but only on a limited basis. Recovering from a knee injury, he didn’t practice at all on Friday, and he was limited on Thursday.
"Obviously I wish the progress was a little faster,” Bush said after practice. “But you can't rush Mother Nature.”
If Bush plays at all – and we don’t think he will – it likely will be in a reduced role. Sean Payton indicates he’s going to use a committee approach, with Deuce McAllister, Pierre Thomas and even free agent pickup Mike Bell (the former Bronco) all contributing.
Right now, Thomas looks most likely to be the team’s most productive runner this week. Over the last two weeks, he’s gotten twice as many touches as McAllister.
Normally, we would advise everyone to stay well away from this situation this week. And that may prove to be the best course. But Green Bay’s defense is substantially better against the pass (1st) than run (27th), so I’ve got a hunch that Thomas actually might be pretty good in this game.
