How to empty your browser's cache.
Your Internet browser may download pages from the web and store them in its "cache." Then when you return to a web page, your computer quickly reloads the saved version, rather than re-downloading the page
The cache sometimes causes problems. If you enter a password wrong the first time, your browser may store the error page in its cache. Even if you re-enter the password properly, the browser may give you the stored error page, rather than re-sending your password and accessing the page you want.
Here's some handy advice on emptying (or "purging") your browser's cache, using a couple of the most common browsers:
To empty the cache in Microsoft Internet Explorer
- From the Safety menu in the upper right, click Delete Browsing History
- Deselect Preserve Favorites website data, and select Temporary Internet files and History.
- Click Delete.
To empty the cache in Firefox:
- From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History.
- From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
- Click the down arrow next to "Details" to choose what history elements to clear (e.g., check Cookies to clear cookies). Click Clear Now.
To empty the cache in Safari:
- On the Safari menu, select Reset Safari.
- Check the boxes for Clear history and Empty the cache ONLY.
- Click the Reset button.
