Trivia Question

Question:

Mike Shanahan went for 2 points in the final minute of yesterday's Broncos-Chargers game, winning the game rather than settling for overtime. What other two teams have won games with 2-point conversions at the end of games?

A:

Minnesota and Tampa Bay.

In 2002, the Vikings won 32-31 at New Orleans on a Daunte Culpepper run. But the Vikings were 3-10 at the time -- out of playoff consideration.

In 2005, Tampa Bay beat Washington 36-35 on a 2-point run by Mike Alstott. But that conversion was different; a penalty had moved the 2-point conversion attempt to the 1-yard line.

Two teams have been unsuccessful at winning games with 2-point conversions -- the 0-6 Bears against the Super Bowl champion Packers in 1997, and the expansion Jaguars against the Buccaneers in 1995.
