Working on the Team Defense and IDP stories for the magazine the past couple of weeks, and a little uncertain how to handle Von Miller. Two years ago he had one of the all-time great defensive seasons, finishing with 68 total tackles and 18.5 sacks. Last year he began the year with a six-game suspension and finished it with a torn ACL.

The Broncos upgraded their defense with DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib, so it was tough to keep them out of our top 5 defenses. Ranking Miller among the top 20 IDPs at his position was something I wrestled with, but ultimately he fell just short. He tore his ACL in December, so it's hard to see him being 100 percent at the start of the season.

This story is encouraging; Miller's head, at least, is in the right place. He's excited about the addition of Ware, a player he's always looked up to. He concedes he's not as much of a leader, coming off that 6-game suspension, but thinks he can be.

Somewhat surprisingly, Miller just turned 25 years old. Depending on how he looks in the preseason, he could still climb up into our top 20 linebackers. For those in scoring systems that strongly emphasize sacks, he should be there anyway.
