When it comes to Jarvis Landry, I think of two things. First of all, there’s the weird socks. He plays in footies, with his ankles actually exposed if you look carefully. Then he’s got sleeves that he wears to satisfy the league requirements that the lower leg must be covered. He’s the only guy I’ve ever seen wearing these kind of socks.

Then there’s the trend that it seems he does nothing but run shallow crosses across the field, catching tons of short balls. He had a few of these in the red zone, where he caught the ball and turned them into touchdowns.

But Landry doesn’t show up downfield often.

Of his 84 catches last year, his “long” reception was only 25 yards.

I checked the historical numbers. In the last 25 years, there never before has been a wide receiver who’s caught 80 passes in a season without having at least one reception of 30 yards.

Weird.

Not as weird as his socks, but weird.
