First there was Trent Richardson, disappointing other Richardsons of the world by not living up to his lofty draft status and rookie promise. And now Sheldon Richardson, a star on the field, is having trouble staying out of trouble off it.

First there was his four-game league suspension for violating its substance abuse policy, and now comes the report that he's been charged with resisting arrest after a traffic incident.

The story doesn't end there; apparently there are other elements, including a handgun and "the strong odor of marijuana" coming from the car.

Richardson has combined with Muhammad Wilkerson to give the Jets one of the league's best defensive lines, but New York went out and drafted one of the top defensive players coming out of college, Leonard Williams, anyway. At the time it seemed insurance for Wilkerson possibly leaving in a contract year, but maybe it was insurance for Richardson, too.

Richardson will miss the first four games, and this latest report could mean additional time out of the lineup for him. New York's defense isn't looking quite as strong in fantasy leagues right now.
