Mark Nulty, the host of our podcast and a member of the fantasy football community for the past 20 years, has passed away. He died from complications caused by lung cancer.

Mark was a founding member of Fanex in 1996 – a website designed to bring together industry analysts each year for experts drafts. He approached me a couple of years ago and said he’d like to put together a podcast. He’d call me and we’d talk fantasy football for about an hour, and he would take it all from there, handling all of the recording, cleanup and production.

He told me in October that he had Stage IV lung cancer, but that he would like to continue doing the podcasts. Some weeks he was going through chemotherapy, but he said doing things like the podcast helped him deal with the physical and mental grind of treatment. Even in late November and early December, we had to do a few extra takes to work around a persistent cough that kept getting worse, but I thought he sounded fine on the air.

Mark was 55 years old. He is survived by his wife, Erin, and their 4-year-old son.

Mark worked in the advertising department of the Ocala Star Banner in Ocala, Fla. One of his colleagues posted a column remembering him yesterday.

Previously, Mark was a sports reporter at the Wichita Falls Times Record News. One of his big passions was pro wrestling. He did some ring announcing and operated the website “Wrestling Classics”.

I will miss visiting with Mark each week.
