The Oakland Raiders haven't had a winning season since 2002. Haven't had a relevant fantasy defense in a few years either. It was 2010 when they last ranked higher than 17th in a sack-and-turnover based scoring system. But maybe 2016 will be the year.

Bruce Irvin thinks so. Improved defense, and a team ready to make a playoff run. In addition to Irvin, the Raiders signed safety Reggie Nelson, who comes off a year when he tied for the league lead with 8 interceptions, and cornerback Sean Smith away from Kansas City.

"You have a lot of guys who are willing to listen to the older guys, so that's the greatest thing about coming to a situation like this," says Irvin. "It's a bunch of guys who are hungry. They are ready to take the next step."

Oakland was already moving in the right direction, much of which can be credited to youngster Khalil Mack. Last year, Oakland made dramatic gains in both sacks (22 in 2014, 38 last year) and turnovers (14 to 25). Given the personnel additions, this fantasy defense -- 19th a year ago -- could sneak up into the top 10 or 12. Maybe higher.
