I shall call this the Where did that come from? Sunday. A big game from Joe Flacco and Dennis Freaking Pitta, on my bench of course. A dud game at home for the entire Saints offense. Disappointing performances from the Giants, the Dolphins, the Panthers. Some championship dreams ended yesterday, or maybe they did for your opponent? Let's hope and get on with it.

Kansas City at Falcons: Spencer Ware had been quiet for a while, so him scoring a pair of early touchdowns was kind of surprising and rewarding if you started him. Couple of big-time playmakers in this game in Taylor Gabriel and Tyreek Hill, but relatively modest performances reminded that it's tough to make a living that way. And the Falcons losing the same way the Saints lost to the Broncos, on a play that didn't even exist two years ago, the Defensive 2-point conversion. Crazy stuff. Devonta Freeman is Atlanta's best back.

Dolphins at Ravens: Like the Giants later in the day, Miami's win streak ended hard. Maybe they were just so stunned to see Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense pull a big game out of seemingly nowhere. Good game for both Ravens running backs (not quite so surprising against Miami) but especially Joe Flacco and Dennis Pitta, who had done nothing all season to warrant starting him in this game. Ravens defense, that thing is for real.

49ers at Bears: So weather was a factor in this game. With the exception of Vance McDonald and Colin Kaepernick you shouldn't have been starting anyone in either passing game anyway, but pretty brutal to have no passes completed in the first quarter. And "benched for Blaine Gabbert" won't look good on Kaepernick's resume. Preseason report had him opting out of his San Francisco contract but possibly re-signing with the 49ers. I think we can put that one to bed. Nice game for Jordan Howard, quietly having a big season.

Eagles at Bengals: So I could have started Pitta in a flex spot, but I opted for Wendell Smallwood. Again, I did not seriously entertain using Pitta. But I probably shouldn't have gone with Smallwood, whose value depends on the Eagles winning, and they might be all done with that this season. Darren Sproles got to run in a garbage-time touchdown near the goal line, too, disappointing. Unexpected solid play by the Bengals, both Brandon LaFell and Tyler Boyd busy.

Texans at Packers: Another game where snow was probably a factor. Although Aaron Rodgers ultimately finished with serviceable numbers, Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson both scored. Only disappointing player was Davante Adams. If you expected much from Houston's offense you shouldn't have. Lamar Miller, 14 carries for 22 yards.

Broncos at Jaguars: Another ugly game out of both offenses, with Denver's defense and a Pick Six (I want to just rename it the Blake Bortles Special) the only real highlights. Kapri Bibbs was outplaying Devontae Booker until he got hurt. Paxton Lynch looks very not ready to play, although Denver actually dialed up more pass plays late in the game than I expected. Take 40 seconds off the clock, guys. Jaguars are in freefall with the Vikings in town next week (though at least they don't score much either).

Rams at Patriots: Well at least Kenny Britt, the only Ram you should really have been starting, scored. Otherwise, nice game for the Patriots defense and LeGarrette Blount. Good numbers for Edelman and Mitchell, a touchdown for Hogan, and more evidence you cannot start either White or Lewis right now. Can't trust Martellus Bennett, obviously, either. I hope it's because he's hurting; not much other reasonable explanation.

Lions at Saints: Of all the teams I'd have expected to go into New Orleans and shut down the Saints, it would have not have been the Lions. Shocker, but kudos to them. They played ball-control offense and kept New Orleans off the field and from doing much of anything until the game was basically over. I might need to start giving Jim Caldwell some credit, he's clearly doing something right with his team. Saints probably crushed a lot of playoff hopes. Huge game for Golden Tate and I even saw Andre Roberts, filling in for Marvin Jones, get a couple of end-zone throws. Coby Fleener had a big game, of course. Kickers are people too: Matt Prater got 18 points against me in a league.

Bills at Raiders: Bills were up huge early on in this game. What happened? Derek Carr and the Raiders just kept coming back. Oakland's defense isn't good enough to keep this thing going, but an impressive season. Essentially playing for the AFC West title, it seems, in Kansas City on Thursday. Latavius Murray has been an unexpected bounty for fantasy teams. Just over 500 rushing yards but 11 TDs. He's no LeSean McCoy, but the touchdowns make him an excellent weekly starter.

Washington at Cardinals: I've said a lot of negative things about Carson Palmer, but at home against a soft defense, he's been pretty solid all year. Helps to have the league's best running back on your side. Washington, with a nice nucleus of youngsters in Cousins-Kelley-Crowder-Reed, seems to have a bright future, but not quite good enough this year. Could be a crazy last week or two in the wildcard hunts in both leagues, just what the NFL wants.

Giants at Steelers: It was very Eli Manning and the Giants to come up with a dud in this one. Final numbers for Beckham, Shepard and Jennings were OK, but at no point did they play well. Steelers also played pretty good defense; they do that every once in a while. Gonna be a wild showdown in the AFC North, too. Paul Perkins continues to look good, like he'll take over this backfield eventually. Of course Rashad Jennings caught a pass and weaved his way into the end zone for a touchdown just as I was saying he was all through, so...

Bucs at Chargers: I will stop making excuses for Philip Rivers and the Chargers. Yes they should have won a lot of games they lost earlier in the season. But they lost them because they're not good enough -- can never, ever make a key stop when necessary. Good game for Melvin Gordon and decent points from the passing game, but not quite good enough. Tampa Bay's unlikely road to the playoffs continues; they're somehow tied for first place in the NFC South after Atlanta's crazy loss.

Panthers at Seahawks: Lots of talk surrounding this one probably about Cam Newton being benched for the disastrous one-play first series that was nearly a Pick Six. First of all, dress codes are pretty stupid. Second, pass routes to Mike Tolbert aren't smart either. And third, Seattle was going to crush Carolina in this game anyway. Most impressive was Thomas Rawls, who I guess I shouldn't have traded away for a second-round pick in dynasty. But he'll get hurt again soon, so there's that.

Monday, Monday: With a win the Colts can forge a three-way tie for first in the AFC South. That will probably happen, New York's defense isn't good enough, and not too crazy about their offense, either. But if Brandon Marshall and Matt Forte come to play, who knows. I'm calling it Colts 24, Jets 20 -- pretty unlikely the Jets play mistake-free enough to get a win.
