C.J. Anderson was a key component of Denver's Super Bowl run two years ago, but that might be a career highlight for him. He was hurt most of last season, and it doesn't sound like he'll be featured in the Broncos running game this year.

“You need two or three guys that can carry the load," says new head coach Vance Joseph. "It is no longer a one-guy position.”

Lots of teams say this in the preseason and end up riding one back, but you don't get that impression with Denver. Anderson isn't a special talent, and the Broncos have other runners. Devontae Booker disappointed as a rookie, but it's too early to write him off. Jamaal Charles might not be able to stay healthy -- his contract has no guaranteed money, indicating the team isn't certain he'll be able to play -- but it's possible.

The team also drafted DeAngelo Henderson in the sixth round, and Henderson is also a possibility for work.

We had the Experts draft for the magazine the other night, and Anderson was a fifth-round pick. That raised a couple of eyebrows as being a little early. Charles went in the 12th round -- there are worse fliers, but that also struck me as a bit early. Booker, in contrast, went in the 19th round. That one I like a little more.

Whatever the case, looks very possible that none of the team's backs is featured this year. Anderson seems like a candidate to be overdrafted.
