Time is running out to enter the Fantasy Index Open. When the first official week of the preseason begins on Wednesday at 7:30 (ET) everything locks.

This is a free, all-comers competition, with anybody willing to take the time to enter compiles at top 20 at each position. We’ll score them at the end of the year (giving more weight to players the higher you rank them).

The winner claims an ridiculously large trophy from the team at Affordable Trophies. (It’s similar to the one that’s pictured.) The top 2 finishers will also be invited to compete in the Experts Poll in the 2018 edition of Fantasy Football Index, competing against industry pros.

To enter the contest, click on the “YOUR STUFF” blue box at the top of the page. That will take you to a page including a handful of options on the right hand side of the page, including one reading “Fantasy Index Open”. Click on that and you’ll be up and running.

No purchase necessary (hence the name, Fantasy Index ‘Open’). But to play, you must register at our site (supplying a name, address and email). Once you’ve signed up (and logged in), you’ll see the “YOUR STUFF” box you need to get started.

Once you’re at the contest site, just use the drag-and-drop technology to create a top 20 at each position. As each position is completed, it will show with a green check mark. Once you’ve got all six positions filled, that’s it. You’re done. There is no final ‘save’ or ‘submit’ button. (But feel free to come back and change your entry if you want, right up until the deadline.)

No write-in players this year. Jay Cutler, Anquan Boldin and Jacquizz Rodgers, most notably, aren’t available as choices. If you were hoping to use one of those guys in your top 20, sorry – you’ll need to sub in somebody else.

As of lunchtime on Tuesday, 370 people have entered, and another 160 have started entries but haven’t yet completed them.

Best of luck to all.
