ASK THE EXPERTS appears weekly from training camp through the Super Bowl with answers to a new question being posted Thursday morning. How the guest experts responded when we asked them: Which first- or second-year quarterback will go on to have the best career?

DAVID DOREY

Deshaun Watson will be one of the top quarterbacks for the next decade. He has a great set of receivers and just needs a better offensive line to give him time. He’s already given a taste of what he can do. Watson is fresh from winning a National Championship and has already played on the biggest stage against top opponents. He can run and throw with equal success. He faces a tougher schedule this year but in the future with a lighter schedule, better blocking and more experience, he’ll be a tough one to defend.

Dorey is the co-founder and lead NFL analyst for The Huddle and author of Fantasy Football: The Next Level. He has projected and predicted every NFL game and player performance since 1997 and has appeared in numerous magazines, newspapers, radio and television.

ALAN SATTERLEE

I'll go with Deshaun Watson at this point. Watson was an absolute star in college and he looks like every bit of remaining a star at the next level. Watson is a playmaker at the quarterback position who can make very accurate throws both in the pocket and on the run, with tremendous rushing skills. Watson is quickly getting on the QB1 radar. However, if I had to pick one 1st/2nd year quarterback overall who will be the best I'd go with Patrick Mahomes. It will probably be 2018 until we see him but I can't wait to see Mahomes get on the field.

IAN ALLAN

Not a lot of difference between a lot of guys. I am comfortable saying that Carson Wentz will be a top-10 quarterback for a lot of years. I think he’s shown enough, and I like the cast around him. He seems to be on his way. For 2017 rookies, Deshaun Watson comes off a couple of impressive games, but I’m not certain that he’ll be better than Mitchell Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes. Those guys just haven’t gotten a chance yet. If I were in a dynasty league, I would have all three of those guys in my top 20.

SAM HENDRICKS

Deshaun Watson has my eye. He has stepped in as the starter quite admirably and has some great receivers in DeAndre Hopkins and a returning Will Fuller. His rushing makes him lethal in every game and the Texans defense will bail him out on occasion. If/when in the future the Texans get a decent running back the sky is the limit.

ANDY RICHARDSON

A surprising number of choices all of a sudden. I'm going to hold off on Deshaun Watson, as I'd like to see him do it against something other than statistically the two worst pass defenses in the league right now, New England and Tennessee. The guy who has really impressed me is the quarterback I liked most in last year's draft, Carson Wentz. He's stepped up his game, he's got a smart offensive coaching staff (that's important; look at Jared Goff from last year to this year), and I think the Eagles are set up to be competitive in the NFC East for years to come.
