Question

Jared Goff and Carson Wentz go head to head this week. They were the first two picks of the 2016 draft, and it looks like both of their teams are headed for the postseason. When was the last time this happened – quarterbacks picked first and second in the same draft class both taking teams to the playoffs in the same year?

Answer

2012, when Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III were rookies. Only other time something like happened in the Super Bowl era occurred in 2002, with Tim Couch and Donovan McNabb. They were the top 2 picks, and both of their teams made the playoffs, but Couch didn't start in the playoffs (but started 14 regular-season games).
