This will be a tough Super Bowl for many people. It's bad enough that your favorite team isn't in Minnesota. But does it have to be these guys?

Yes, it does. The Eagles and Patriots both earned their spot in the biggest game of the year. Both were their conference's top seeds, and both took care of business when it mattered most. And one of them will be a champion Sunday night.

Still, both teams have many detractors. if you're having trouble figuring out who to support for just one night, use this handy guide:

If you support Washington, Dallas or New York, you'll root for the Patriots. Because nothing would get you to root for the Eagles.

If you have friends or family from the New England area, you'll root for the Eagles. Because Thanksgiving dinner conversations have been unbearable over the past decade or so.

If you're a Raiders fan, you'll root for the Eagles. Because you're still not over the tuck rule thing. That was supposed to be your Super Bowl run, not theirs!

If you're Santa Claus, you'll root for the Patriots. Because Philly sure didn't root for you .

If you're a fan of the Vikings, Lions, Falcons, Panthers, Cardinals, Bills, Texans, Jaguars, Titans, Bengals, Browns or Chargers, you'll root for the Patriots.

Yes, even Atlanta. Because if the Eagles win, they'll leave your "Never Won A Super Bowl" club and join the previous Super Bowl winners, which is everyone else in the league. Why make your team stand out more by making that group even smaller? Why should their fans get to enjoy something you never have? And let's face it: Your team won't catch the Patriots in your lifetime anyway, so what's another Super Bowl for them?

If you feel bad for Robert Kraft because Vladimir Putin stole one of his Super Bowl rings , you'll root for the Patriots. Because he needs another one to make up for it.

If you're tired of hearing about dynasties and G.O.A.T.s, you'll root for the Eagles. Because you know why.

If you love living in an era where you get to see the best of the best play live, you'll root for the Patriots. Because see above.

If you're a 49rs fan, you'll root for the Patriots. Because Jimmy Garoppolo makes even more money if the team wins (he gets a full share of their playoff purse). And every dollar he makes that way could be a dollar less your team will have to pay for a long-term deal.

Ah, who are we kidding? They'll back up the truck for Jimmy G. either way.

If you like underdogs, you'll root for the Eagles. The city known for Rocky has followed a storybook playoff season. Disrespected when Carson Wentz went down, underdogs at home as the number one seed, and now an underdog in the biggest game of their lives, the Eagles just keep on winning. Taking the title from the Patriots would be the ultimate underdog ending.

If you went to school at Florida State or West Virginia, you'll root for the Eagles. Both the Seminoles and Mountaineers have four alumni in the game, and all of them wear Philadelphia's jersey.

By the way, the Florida Gators have three players on the Eagles, and just one on the Patriots. Could Florida fans and Florida State fans finally agree on something?

If you like continuity, you'll root for the Patriots. Only one guy has a shot to win in Minnesota after going to the University of Minnesota. Damarius Travis is on New England's practice squad, but he's the only Golden Gopher with a chance to be a winner on Sunday.

If you like Chihuahuas, you'll root for Team Fluff. They have eight Chihuahua mixes on this year's squad.

Sorry, that was for Puppy Bowl XIV. But choosing between Team Fluff and Team Ruff can be, well, tuff. Still worth watching every year.

And if you still can't pick a side, just sit back and enjoy the game. It's the one all players dream of reaching, and it just might be a close contest. In any case, watch with friends and family and we'll wrap the season up next week.
