The Jaguars cut Allen Hurns the other day, and it's a move that's seemingly been two years in the making. He didn't really live up to the huge contract the team gave him after his 1,000-yard 2015 season, plus Jacksonville has lots of other capable wide receivers.

But Hurns, undrafted or no, can play. He's only 26 years old, and he's been effective at times. He's reportedly drawn interest from the Cowboys, and he looks like an upgrade from Terrance Williams, who they've been using as their No. 2 in recent years.

A year ago, Hurns caught nearly 70 percent of the passes thrown his way. That ranked 14th among wide receivers. Lots of the players ahead of him were slot receivers and other wideouts working very close to the line of scrimmage; guys like Jeremy Kerley, Trent Taylor and Danny Amendola.

Table shows all players that caught at least 55 percent of the balls thrown their way. Some of the guys near the bottom were either running exclusively deeper routes or working with scattershot passers. But Hurns was fairly effective for the Jaguars. Somebody might find a nice No. 2 or 3 by signing him.
