Question

New England had two first-round picks and used them both on players from Georgia – Isaiah Wynn and Sony Michel. What was the last other franchise to use two first-round picks on players from the same school? Looking for a team from 2005, selecting a cornerback and a forgettable quarterback from an SEC school.

Answer

Washington (with Carlos Rogers and Jason Campbell). In 1989, the Rams selected Cleveland Gary and Bill Hawkins from Miami. In 1983, the Chargers selected Billy Ray Smith and Gary Anderson from Arkansas. (I selected Gary Anderson in my first fantasy draft, and he was the first player ever to score a touchdown for one of my fantasy teams, somersaulting into the end zone in an opening-day game against the Dolphins). Way back in 1967, the Vikings selected two Michigan State players with top-10 picks, Clint Jones and Gene Washington.
