I’ve been hitting dynasty rankings on the weekends, and Nick Chubb is the biggest mover up this week. With Carlos Hyde out of the way, Chubb looks like he’s going to be very special. That should start in earnest tomorrow, playing against a Tampa Bay defense missing two defensive line starters.

As a disclaimer, I was not a fan of Cleveland’s decision to select Chubb early in the second round. I thought he looked plodding and slow. He averaged over a yard and half carry less than the two other big-time backs on his team (Sony Michel and D’Andre Swift). To me, I was thinking Chubb might be pretty similar to Samaje Perine, who hasn’t yet been able to get his career going with Washington.

But Chubb has done very well with his limited touches so far, averaging at least 7 yards per carry in all but one game. He had the two long touchdowns at Oakland, showing more speed than I thought he had. I’m excited to see what he can do, and that’s a team with some ability to run it. The Browns are averaging 138 rushing yards per game, 5th-most in the league.

So if I were walking into a dynasty draft today, this is how I would order the running backs. This is standard scoring, and assuming you get to keep guys for their entire careers. So I tend to slant things in favor of the younger guys. 26-year-old David Johnson is the oldest player in my top 14.

Rookies tagged with black dots.

Last week: quarterbacks.

Next week: tight ends.
