Swift, Golladay, Amendola all out for Lions

Detroit Lions running back D’ANDRE SWIFT has been ruled out for today’s Thanksgiving Day game against the Houston Texans. The Lions will move forward with some combination of ADRIAN PETERSON and KERRYON JOHNSON.  Also out for the Lions are wide receivers KENNY GOLLADAY and DANNY AMENDOLA, both of whom are dealing with hip injuries.

Lions sign veteran RB Peterson to one-year deal

The Detroit Lions signed veteran free agent running back ADRIAN PETERSON on Sunday morning. Peterson was a surprise release late last week by the Washington Football Team, which decided to moveMore forward with younger options at the running back position. The move will reunite Peterson, 35, with Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who served in the same role for the Minnesota Vikings from 2006 to 2010. Washington made a surprise announcement this morning that it was releasing veteran running back ADRIAN PETERSON. The 35-year-old Peterson had been running with the starters throughout training camp. By cutting Peterson,More Washington saves nearly $2.5 million in salary cap space. The team now has four running backs on its roster, including ANTONIO GIBSON, J.D.
