Chargers sign tight end

The Los Angeles Chargers signed undrafted rookie tight end AUSTIN ROBERTS out of UCLA on Wednesday. There has been much speculation that the team would bring back veteran ANTONIO GATES after losing HUNTER HENRY for the season last week but Gates remains unsigned.

The Chargers probably will need to sign a tight end, and Antonio Gates looks like the most likely option. There isn’t much else out there. Marcedes Lewis, Julius Thomas, Coby Fleener, Gary Barnidge and Brent Celek, I think, are the best available free agents.   more »

Chargers lose TE Henry for season

Los Angeles Chargers tight end HUNTER HENRY, 23, tore an anterior cruciate ligament in practice on Tuesday and will undergo surgery that will sideline him for the 2018 season. GM Tom Telesco said the team will consider all options in replacing Henry, which could include former tight end ANTONIO GATES.

Hunter Henry tore his ACL yesterday. The next time you think ill of a veteran who skips OTAs, consider the consequences for players every time they step on the field.
