The New England Patriots released veteran tight end AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS. The 26-year-old tight end has bounced around the league, failing to catch-on with any team for the long-term. Seferian-Jenkins was signed in early April, meaning he did not even last two months with the Patriots.

Watson suspended 4 games

New England tight end BEN WATSON has been suspended for the first 4 games of the 2019 season for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Watson took a banned substanceMore to help his body heal after retiring from the NFL following the 2018 season. Around the NFL: New England's murky tight end situation

Rob Gronkowski is gone, and no one can really replace him in New England. The Patriots have a host of different candidates, but not only don't they have a clear No. 1, the closest thing they do have to such a player won't be available the first month of the season.   more »

Patriots sign TE Seferian-Jenkins

The New England Patriots signed veteran tight end AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS to a one-year contract on Wednesday. With the retirement of ROB GRONKOWSKI, the Patriots have a huge hole at the tight end position. Time will tell if Seferian-Jenkins can fill that hole, but he suddenly becomes relevant in fantasy discussions.

Seferian-Jenkins brings new dynamic to Jaguars offense

Tight end AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS signed a free agent contract with Jacksonville in March and the Jaguars are hoping he can bring a new dynamic to the offense. Around the NFL: Austin Seferian-Jenkins

Item yesterday that Blake Bortles has been showing an early connection with Austin Seferian-Jenkins at Jaguars practices. It makes sense, as he's a better pass catcher than what Jacksonville has put out there at the position recently, and Bortles could use a nice safety valve to throw short passes to, rather than forcing them in to covered receivers further downfield.   more »

Jets acquire TE Walford

The New York Jets claimed tight end CLIVE WALFORD off waivers after he was released by the Oakland Raiders. Walford had a disappointing 2017 season that ended with him on injuredMore reserve due to a concussion. Factoid: Short-range tight ends

I notice that more tight ends are running shorter routes nowadays, with Austin Seferian-Jenkins leading the way. He averaged only 7.1 yards per catch last year, the lowest average by any tight end with 50-plus catches in the last 25 years.   more »

New York Jets tight end AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS is set to return following his two-game NFL suspension. Seferian-Jenkins ready to star for Jets?

New York Jets tight end AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS was the star of the spring, dropping 25 pounds and playing all over the field during OTA’s and minicamp. Seferian-Jenkins will begin the seasonMore with a two-game suspension stemming from a DUI arrest last year in Florida. When he returns, however, he should have plenty of opportunity considering the Jets receivers are young and inexperienced. Less
