Texans make unexpected cut, WR Miller released

The Houston Texans cut slot wide receiver ANTHONY MILLER on Wednesday. The move was unexpected, but head coach David Culley explained it was necessary with the return of veteran slot receiverMore DANNY AMENDOLA. The Texans apparently only have room for one player at the position, and Miller appears to have drawn the short straw. Amendola returns after missing the past two games and prepares to face his former team, the New England Patriots, on Sunday. Less

Factoid: Danny Amendola

Should you draft Danny Amendola, don’t hold your breath waiting for him to pile up a bunch of touchdowns. He’s a solid slot receiver, but he’s never been much of a scorer.  more »

Lions WR Jones has lofty goals for 2020

Detroit Lions starting wide receiver MARVIN JONES says that he wants to lead the league in touchdowns in 2020, adding that he wants to catch over 15 touchdowns. While Jones’ goalMore is admirable, Antonio Brown and Dez Bryant are the only two wide receivers that have caught at least 15 touchdown passes in a season since 2012. Considering that KENNY GOLLADAY, DANNY AMENDOLA, and second-year tight end T.J. HOCKENSON are also on the roster – Jones could have a tough time reaching his goal. Less

Around the NFL: Danny Amendola

The Lions signed Danny Amendola last week, a one-year deal that barely made a blip on the newswire. It's a fitting lack of fanfare for a player who's productive, in his way, as long as you don't care about things like getting in the end zone.   more »

Around the NFL: Danny Amendola

A recent article about new Lions receiver Danny Amendola talked him up as a "safety blanket" for Matthew Stafford. And that's fair, because he's definitely a reliable receiver at close range (and Stafford will be working without Theo Riddick this season). Scoring punch, though, is something he lacks.   more »

Factoid: Jarvis Landry

The Browns traded for Jarvis Landry at the start of the offseason. He cost them fourth- and seventh-round picks; not too expensive. But it looks like he might be playing for them on just the one-year franchise tender, and won't necessarily be with the team long-term. After leading the league with 112 receptions last year, odds are against him being similarly productive in 2018.   more »
