Factoid: Long-range FGs

I notice that teams are connecting more often on long field goals. In my first 10 years playing fantasy football, there was one successful field goal from 60-plus yards. In the last two years, there have been 9 such kicks.   more »

Factoid: Greg Zuerlein

I see Robert Saleh is grumbling about Greg Zuerlein missing a field goal and an extra point in New York’s opener, and about being second-guessed for the decision to keep Zuerlein over Eddy Pineiro. But Saleh really has nobody to blame but himself.   more »

Cowboys to roll with rookie kicker in 2022?

After releasing veteran kicker GREG ZUERLEIN during the offseason, the only kicker currently on the Dallas Cowboys roster is undrafted rookie JONATHAN GARIBAY. Zuerlein missed six field goals and six extraMore points last season, so the Cowboys understandably moved on. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said that Garibay is “off to a good start”, although the team could bring in competition at some point. Garibay made the longest field goal in the FBS last season, kicking a 62-yarder to win the game for Texas Tech against Iowa State. Less

Cowboys release TE Jarwin, kicker Zuerlein

The Dallas Cowboys made two predictable salary cap-clearing moves that may be of particular interest to fantasy owners heading into the upcoming season. Dallas released tight end BLAKE JARWIN and kickerMore GREG ZUERLEIN. Jarwin recently underwent hip surgery that threatens his 2022 availability, and the Cowboys used the franchise tag on fellow tight end DALTON SCHULTZ. Meanwhile, Greg the Leg is coming off two sub-par years and was deemed expendable. Less

Cowboys place kicker on Covid-19 Reserve list

The Dallas Cowboys placed veteran kicker GREG ZUERLEIN on the Covid-19 Reserve list on Tuesday. It is unclear if Zuerlein has a chance to be back in time for Sunday’s gameMore against the Atlanta Falcons, and the team has no other kicker on the roster. The Cowboys are expected to hold kicking tryouts in the days ahead, but your fantasy team likely has better options than any diamond in the rough that Dallas might uncover between now and Sunday. Fantasy News: Second-half kickers

A pair of kickers put up huge numbers in the second half of the season – Tyler Bass and Greg Zuerlein both averaged over 10 points in their final eight games. Should we take that as a sign that these kickers are likely to rank in the top 10 in 2021? Or is this more likely a case of outlier production in a small sample size?   more »

Around the NFL: Rams kickers

The Rams have signed a pair of kicking prospects: Austin MacGinnis and Lirim Hajrullahu. They’re looking to replace Greg Zuerlein (who signed with Dallas). Looking at their recent work, it looks pretty clear to me that Hajrullahu will be their guy.  more »

Rams sign All-Star kicker from CFL

The Los Angeles Rams have moved on from kicker GREG ZUERLEIN but appear to have found his replacement in former CFL kicker LIRIM HAJRULLAHU. Cowboys sign Greg the Leg

The Dallas Cowboys signed free agent kicker GREG ZUERLEIN to a three-year contract just a week after signing fellow free agent kicker KAI FORBATH. Forbath finished the 2019 season with theMore Cowboys and was an affordable option at the time the team re-signed him. Zuerlein, however, was the kicker they really wanted. When his price dropped a couple of weeks into free agency, the Cowboys moved to sign him. Less

Around the NFL: Greg the Leg

The Cowboys signed Greg Zuerlein yesterday. Yes, sorry, the signing of a kicker was probably the biggest NFL-related news item to come down the pike yesterday. It's a name that gets people interested because of past fantasy success and the cool nicknames, but it should be noted that he's available because he's coming off a disappointing season.   more »
