Around the NFL: Dobbins and Edwards

As anticipated, the Chargers have signed running back J.K. Dobbins. With Gus Edwards also under contract, they've got both Ravens main runners from the last few years, the offensive coordinator (Greg Roman) from most of those teams, and I notice the head coaches (John and Jim Harbaugh) even have the same last name. Spooky.   more »

Around the NFL: Ravens West

The Chargers are reportedly kicking the tires on J.K. Dobbins. He's coming off a torn Achilles, the second time in three years he's had his season wiped out by a major injury. But he's healthy now (according to his doctor) and the landing spot would certainly get him on the radar.   more »

Around the NFL: Gus Edwards

The Chargers let Austin Ekeler walk in free agency, replacing him with Gus Edwards. If anyone needed a crystal-clear message about how different the offense will be under Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman this year, there it is.   more »

Around the NFL: Derrick Henry

There was a story floating around yesterday that the Ravens are the front runners to sign free agent running back Derrick Henry. Hard to know if these are actual news items or just ambitious reporters connecting dots. Either way, it's a belief I subscribe to -- Henry to Ravens makes too much sense not to happen.   more »

Factoid: Ravens runners

Gus Edwards in the first half of Sunday’s game carried the ball only once, and picked up 15 yards on that play. That was hard to understand. Why were the run-oriented Ravens so quick to abandon what they’d been doing all year?  more »

Ravens RB Dobbins suffers season ending Achilles injury

Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. DOBBINS suffered an Achilles injury in the team’s opening week win over the Houston Texans and will be out for the remainder of the 2023 NFLMore season. Dobbins has been injury- plagued since entering the league, missing 27 games during his first three seasons. Time will tell if the Ravens seek to add another running back, but for now it looks like fellow running backs GUS EDWARDS and JUSTICE HILL will lead the Ravens backfield for the near future. Less

NFL Injury Report: MNF injuries

John Harbaugh has downplayed the injuries suffered by Mark Andrews and Gus Edwards a week ago Thursday, but it doesn’t look like either will be playing on Monday night. Neither has practiced at all, and both are doubtful on the team’s injury report.   more »

Edwards is the next man up in the Ravens backfield after the team placed fellow running back J.K. DOBBINS (knee) on injured reserve on Saturday. Less

Drake in, Badie out for Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran running back KENYAN DRAKE. The 28-year-old Drake was released by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this month. His addition will solidify Baltimore’s running back depth withMore the status of J.K. DOBBINS (knee) uncertain for the season opener and GUS EDWARDS (knee) on the reserve/PUP list. In a related move, the Ravens released rookie running back TYLER BADIE. Badie was drafted in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Less

Around the NFL: Baltimore running backs

There was a big kerfuffle on Twitter yesterday, in which J.K. Dobbins (pictured) called out NFL.com's Ian Rapoport for suggesting he might not be ready for Week 1 while returning from an ACL injury. It highlighted the good and bad of Twitter: the bad is that anyone can say anything, the good is that sometimes the famous person will set the record straight.   more »

Ravens sign veteran RB Davis

The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran running back MIKE DAVIS to a one-year deal worth just over $1.2 million dollars for the upcoming season. The move adds depth to a Ravens backfieldMore that saw three running backs go down with season-ending injuries last year before the 2021 season began. If running backs J.K. DOBBINS and GUS EDWARDS miss any time in 2022 as they continue to recover from their injuries, Davis could be expected to get a heavy workload early in the season. Less
