49ers lose WR Hurd to likely season-ending injury

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver JALEN HURD suffered what is believed to be a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Monday. Around the NFL: 49ers receivers

San Francisco's crowded running back room has probably got the most preseason ink, but it's a mess at wide receiver, too. Dante Pettis, Marquise Goodwin, Trent Taylor, Richie James, Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd are all in contention for roles, and most of them could wind up as the No. 2 -- or a whole lot lower.   more »

Around the NFL: Dante Pettis

As training camps approach, I find myself settling on Dante Pettis as the clear favorite to be the best of San Francisco’s wide receivers. In a typical fantasy draft, I’d be looking to pick him up in the later rounds.  more »

Factoid: Multiple wideouts drafted by same team

The Ravens drafted Marquise Brown in the first round, then went back to the well in the third with Miles Boykin. San Francisco did a similar double-dip, drafting Deebo Samuel atop the second and Jalen Hurd a round later. Teams selecting a pair of wideouts in the first three rounds doesn't happen every year -- but almost.   more »
