Fantasy News: The 2021 QB Class Proves the NFL Draft is a Gamble

Around the NFL: First-round recap

It was a big night for wide receiver aficionados. Six were drafted in the top 20 picks for the first time ever, and two more 24-year-olds with 1,000-yard seasons on their resumes were traded for top-25 picks. But with the rookies, few were shocked -- and it's the third straight year at least five were taken in the first round. That's where the top prospects are these days.   more »

Andy Richardson: Top 5 Draft Picks

It's draft day, and 32 college players will be first-round picks by the end of it. Seemed like a good day to take a look at the premium selections -- top-5 picks -- from the last 10 years, and see how often those guys have gone on to be stars. It's not as pretty as you might expect.   more »

Andy Richardson: NFL Draft predictions

We're just three days away from the NFL Draft. A good time to offer up some predictions -- where some of the big-name skill players will go, whose fantasy value is about to take a major hit, which players will hug Roger Goodell. As always, the following should not be used as the basis for any actual wagers.   more »

Andy Richardson: Rookie running backs

It's mock draft time, when it's easy to see everyone with an interest in the NFL and fantasy football posting mock drafts. They're easy enough to find with online searches or by simply going to NFL.com. What's not as easy to find are first-round running back selections.   more »

Factoid: Wide receiver U?

Saw a tweet from Adam Schefter today about Louisiana State wideouts. JaMarr Chase (pictured) will definitely be a first-round pick in next month's draft -- possibly No. 6 overall to Miami -- and Terrace Marshall will probably be drafted in either the first or second round. It continues a nice run of respect for LSU players at the position.   more »

Around the NFL: Thunder and Lightning?

The NFL combine isn't being held this year, so the only look that teams are getting at players is individual pro days. North Carolina's was yesterday, and there should be at least a couple of relevant fantasy players drafted from there. Most notably, Javonte Williams (pictured) and Michael Carter, two of college football's top rushers a year ago.   more »

Factoid: Quarterbacks in Top 10

It's expected that as many as five quarterbacks will be selected in the top 10 picks of next month's draft -- factoring in potential trades, there might be five passers in the top 5 or 7 picks. That would be unprecedented. Only once since the merger have even four quarterbacks been selected that early.   more »

Factoid: DeVonta Smith

Most football fans saw DeVonta Smith tearing up college football last year, leading Alabama to a national championship and winning the Heisman -- first wideout to do so since Desmond Howard. But Smith probably won't be the first receiver drafted next month, and size has everything to do with it.  more »

Factoid: Top-5 quarterbacks

It's been a rough offseason for former top draft pick quarterbacks. Jared Goff was traded in what was primarily a salary dump, and Carson Wentz apparently will be. That's continuing a recent trend in which quarterbacks taken at the top of drafts are kicked to the curb a few years later. And it's not only recently that most of those guys have disappointed.   more »

Goodell not safe from boos even with virtual draft

With the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft moving to a virtual format, Commissioner Roger Goodell likely assumed he would be spared from hearing the traditional boos. Unfortunately for the commissioner, Bud LightMore is offering fans an opportunity to record themselves booing Goodell – with the recordings then being posed on social media.
