Payton expects Broncos to make playoffs, criticizes 2022 effort

New Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton raised some eyebrows this week with comments about his expectations for the team this season and what he thought of the team’s efforts lastMore season. When discussing the Broncos 2022 season, Payton said that “it might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL”. Yep, he really said that. Ian Allan: Offensive minds

The guys calling the plays matter. A great coach can get big numbers out of seemingly modest players. Similarly, a good player can waste away if used improperly.   more »

Factoid: Denver Broncos

I like the Sean Payton hire. After his many seasons with the Saints, I think it’s fair to argue that he’s one of the top half-dozen offensive coaches in the history of the game. If there’s a coach out there who can get Russell Wilson back to being one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the game, it’s Payton.  more »

Broncos hire Sean Payton as next head coach

The Denver Broncos announced this week that Sean Payton will be their next head coach, after finalizing a trade with the New Orleans Saints. Payton was considered one of the topMore candidates for the job when Denver’s search began. The Broncos whiffed on their previous three hires – Nathaniel Hackett, Vic Fangio, and Vance Joseph – each of whom had no previous head coaching experience. The Broncos hope Payton can help solve their offensive issues, which includes $245 million quarterback RUSSELL WILSON, who is coming off the worst season of his career. Less

Around the NFL: Sean Payton

The Broncos are hiring Sean Payton as their new head coach. What's one more first-round draft pick? They've got to salvage last season's pick expense to acquire Russell Wilson, and at least now they've got a proven offensive mind to give it a whirl. It's not like things could be any worse than what was the league's bottom-scoring offense a year ago.   more »

Anarumo is currently the defensive coordinator for Cincinnati, while Callahan is theMore Bengals offensive coordinator. The Cardinals are also reportedly planning to interview New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka. The added interviews could be a sign that Sean Payton is leaning elsewhere, or perhaps that the New Orleans Saints’ asking price is too high. Of course, the Cardinals could also simply be doing their due diligence in the interview process. Less
