Payback can be sweet.

Part of the annual process of the Experts Poll in the magazine is getting all of the picks out on the table, and then speculating on who made the worst picks and committed the worst reaches.

Scott Sachs of Perfect Season Fantasy Football was a target at times last summer, since he made more aggressive picks than anyone else at quarterback.

He’s the guy who went against conventional wisdom, ranking Matthew Stafford down at 9th, RG3 down at 17th, and (gasp) Nick Foles down at 18th. He was lower than anyone else on all of those quarterbacks.

Turns out all of those choices worked in his favor.

Sachs was also the highest of all 20 guys on Jay Cutler (7th), Ben Roethlisberger (13th) and Eli Manning (16th). Those also turned out pretty nicely.

Sachs didn’t hit on all of his picks. He was the lowest on Philip Rivers (20th), which didn’t pan out. And he was too high on Colin Kaepernick (8th). But he hit on enough picks to beat everyone else at quarterback.

Bob Henry of Footballguys.com finished in 2nd, while Sam Hendricks of Extra Point Press took 3rd.

We’ve also got the alternate scoring system, where we set a basement at each position. For quarterbacks, Derek Carr finished as the No. 20 quarterback, scoring 256.7 points. So in the alternate scoring system, that’s where the scoring starts (and you get credit only for points above that threshold). If you wasted a pick on Sam Bradford or Nick Foles, you just get 0 points.

In the alternate scoring system, Sachs is still your winner.

Such as scoring system (putting a safety net in there) helps Cory Bonini of USA Today Fantasy Sports move up from 14th to 2nd. It totally screws Paul Charchian (LeagueSafe) and Tony Holm (Fantasy Sharks), who fall 9 and 6 spots.
