The drop numbers for receivers just went by, and I notice that Chargers have been unusually good in this area. Three years in a row, San Diego has ranked either 1st or 2nd in fewest passes dropped.
San Diego ranked 1st in drops in 2012, and it’s been the No. 2 team in each of the last two years. Overall, the Chargers have dropped only 47 passes in its last 48 games. Other NFL teams have averaged 80 drops in the same time span.
Over the past three years, the Chargers have dropped under 3 percent of their pass attempts. Only two other teams have dropped under 4 percent of their throws.
The Jaguars have been the worst drop team over the last three years, in the bottom 10 every year. Washington also has been in the bottom 10 in three straight.
