Week after week we're getting games that go down to the wire, with big field goals made, missed, blocked or just knuckleballed into the middle of nowhere. You'd think teams would place more of a priority on having and retaining good reliable kickers, rather than changing them like a dirty shirt and throwing the old ones away. I understand many fantasy teams wish they didn't have to use kickers at all (and some leagues don't), but these guys are important in the NFL.

Jaguars at Ravens: Didn't care who won this game, really, but got reeled in at the end and was really rooting for the Jaguars to make that 53-yard field goal with time having already expired. And it was right down the middle. Exciting and fun, one of those plays that makes football great. Only happened because of a facemask, which was the right call; Elvis Dumervil almost took Blake Bortles' head off. Not quite as much offense as you expected in this game, but there's Hurns and Robinson scoring yet again. ... Decent game from Kamar Aiken, PPR anyway. Touchdowns to Givens (had a hunch) and both tight ends. But Ravens find yet another way to lose a heartbreaker. (Or would be if their season wasn't over.)

Lions at Packers: Speaking of heartbreakers, the Lions almost blew this thing, multiple times. Dominated the game, but missed two extra points so the Packers were still down a touchdown and two-pointer at the end. Got the TD, missed the 2-pointer, announcers are talking like Lions have won. Somebody no doubt yelling in mike, They can still get the onside kick! And so they did, and had a chance at a 52-yard game winning field goal that I thought they'd make. But Mason Crosby mishit or something, because it wasn't blocked but looked like it was. First Lions win at Lambeau since Wayne freaking Fontes. ... Stunned by how flat the Packers offense was in this game. Finished with decent numbers for Rodgers and Davante Adams, but again a lesser game from Randall Cobb, and the whole offense did little until the fourth quarter. Again. Decent total numbers from James Starks. Ameer Abdullah brought the second-half kickoff back to the 1-foot-line, good thing no one started him anyway.

Dolphins at Eagles: Another game where it seemed like a perfect situation for the home team. They even had the Dolphins surrender another safety. But they lost, with Sam Bradford and Ryan Mathews suffering concussions. Ridiculous touchdown off a ball tipped high in the air for Jarvis Landry. Touchdown reception for Lamar Miller, who is like the new Marshall Faulk these days as a receiver. Mark Sanchez looked about like Sanchez, and the Eagles completed a well-covered 6-yard pass on 4th and 10 that ended the game. One pretty sweet Bradford to Josh Huff TD, but seems like Bradford will miss at least the next game.

Browns at Steelers: Benched the Bills defense for waiver pickup Pittsburgh, and it worked out, thanks to the Browns' general ineptitude in protection, catching passes, and wiping out touchdowns and other plays with either penalties or drops. Travis Benjamin dropped a touchdown, Isaiah Crowell had one erased, but of course Gary Barnidge scored yet again. ... Steelers didn't want to start Ben Roethlisberger, had to use him when Landry Jones got hurt early. So naturally Roethlisberger had a huge day and so did Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant. Incredible. Why wasn't he starting again? Steelers are going to the playoffs and they're going to cause some problems for somebody in the first round.

Bears at Rams: Well, the NFL is crazy. And the Bears could very easily be on a six-game winning streak right now, because apparently they're pretty good. Four wins and two narrow, overtime and last-second defeats to the Lions and Vikings in their last six. Kind of nuts. Big game for Jeremy Langford, hope he was for and not against you. Todd Gurley scored, and hopefully he was the only Ram you actually started. Tavon Austin had a nice touchdown run on a reverse erased by a holding penalty, an early miscue by the Rams that set the tone for the day. Nick Foles is not good. ... 2 TDs for Zach Miller, very little for Martellus Bennett. Perplexing and disappointing, but good for Miller, a talented guy who has never been able to stay healthy.

Cowboys at Buccaneers: A game that set football back many years. Ugly offensive efforts by both teams, though I guess some credit goes to the defenses. Final minute Matt Cassel threw a bomb for Dez Bryant that was picked off in the end zone. Bryant wanted a flag and watching it live I was like, C'mon Dez. But the replay clearly showed the defender shoved him in the back. Ref watching the play didn't see or didn't call it. In the '90s they get that call. Surprised Dez didn't jump up to get it, but he was pushed. If you started any Cowboys and most Bucs you were disappointed. Bucs also got lucky on a penalty that wiped out a Winston goal-line fumble right before the winning score. Another tough loss for Dallas, which doesn't need to rush Romo back.

Panthers at Titans: Carolina toyed with Tennessee for a little while and things were close, but the Titans just don't have the offense to win this kind of game. Shut down. Really good Carolina defense, and that's what happens to rookies like Mariota and running backs like Antonio Andrews. Nice game for Jonathan Stewart, Panthers win again, and we see again how much better offenses look against laughable defenses like the Saints. Speaking of...

Saints at Washington: Bye week for New Orleans, so maybe Rob Ryan gets fired by the time you read this. New Orleans is lacking in personnel, sure, but they just made everyone wearing a Washington uniform look great. Alfred Morris went over 100 yards. Matt Jones had a huge day. Even Chris Thompson worked out OK in PPR! And the Kirk Cousins-Jordan Reed tandem was unstoppable around the goal line. ... Big game for Brandin Cooks, early. Turning out OK. Willie Snead did nothing, apparently limited by the injury he entered the game with. Saw Marques Colston drop a pass or two. Also saw the Saints get stuffed on 3rd and 4th and 1 runs into the line with Tim Hightower and then C.J. Spiller. What. the. ?

Vikings at Raiders: It's a really good defense the Vikings have right now; they're shutting down just about everyone and winning without doing a whole lot on offense. Nice game for Adrian Peterson and the Vikings Defense, although fantasy-wise the big deal was a kick return score for Cordarrelle Patterson. Good for him for contributing. Naturally Kyle Rudolph, the tight end people actually started, didn't score; Rhett Ellison did. ... Quiet game for pretty much everyone on the Raiders offense, though Derek Carr finished with decent numbers. Probably not started by many teams, though.

Kansas City at Broncos: I think it's fair to say that Peyton Manning breaking the NFL record for passing yards was slightly overshadowed by him throwing 4 interceptions and getting benched for Brock Osweiler. He was hurt, I get it, but it's a fine line between having 5 or 6 different injuries and maybe just not being physically able to play anymore. The entire Broncos offense seems to be hands off at this point. And Hillman and Anderson seem to be alternating usable weeks, which isn't helpful. ... Charcandrick West is sure having a nice season. Faces the Chargers next week, hope he's cheap in Daily leagues. And that I'll still be able to play them here in New York.

Patriots at Giants: It's Week 10, and I don't know what a catch is. Any non-Patriots fans agree with the ruling on the Beckham Jr. overturned touchdown in the final two minutes? Looked to me like he got two feet down before the ball was knocked free, but no one asked me. If the Patriots do go on to run the table, this will be the game pointed at at the loss that should have been. Pretty entertaining game with big plays on both sides. ... Julian Edelman out for the fantasy season with a broken foot. Presumably Danny Amendola already rostered in most leagues, but if not, grab him. He'll be much, much better than James White/Brandon Bolden/whoever else the Patriots run out there as their passing downs back.

Cardinals at Seahawks: Defensive struggle? For about a quarter, anyway. John Brown (no catches) proved again the risk of starting banged-up players, just as Marshawn Lynch (touchdown) showed that sometimes you regret benching gametime calls. There are no rules. ... Big games for Michael Floyd and Doug Baldwin, probably on fantasy benches in many leagues. Carson Palmer, too. ... Jimmy Graham didn't do much, though he did draw end-zone targets on back-to-back plays, dropping a touchdown and getting a flag that set up the fantasy-useless fullback dive for a touchdown. Hate that play. ... Don't write off 4-5 Seattle. With Green Bay and Atlanta slipping and the NFC East likely to send only one team to the playoffs, Seattle could still be a wildcard team.

Texans at Bengals: Tough to see Houston doing very much in this game. Cincinnati is better against the pass than the run, while passing it is what Houston does well. We do get to see a pair of the league's elite wide receivers in A.J. Green and DeAndre Hopkins in this game, probably deciding a lot of fantasy matchups, them and Tyler Eifert. I'll take Cincinnati 30, Houston 20.
