The Steelers play the Seahawks on Sunday, and that makes for an interesting decision for those holding Ben Roethlisberger. Do you start him against the Legion of Boom? Seattle has had a great defense for the last few years, but it’s a group that’s slipped a little this season. But the game is also in Seattle.
Carson Palmer just passed for 363 yards and 3 TDs on this field. Andy Dalton hit them for 310 yards and 2 TDs. Blaine Gabbert, for crying out loud, passed for 264 yards at Seattle last week, leading a 92-yard drive for a touchdown at the end of the first half.
But it’s on the road, and Roethlisberger hasn’t been quite as good away from Heinz Field. When he’s popping off for 4-5 TDs, those games are almost always at home.
Since the start of 2013, Roethlisberger has played 18 games on the road. In only six of those games have he thrown more than 1 TD passes. He’s averaged 274 passing yards in those games, with 24 TDs and 14 interceptions.
