The first game is underway and Jay Cutler has already thrown an end-zone interception (on a ball Julius Thomas didn't even turn and look for), but for all the other games, the injury updates are starting to filter in. Here are some of the other developments.

  • Michael Crabtree (chest) isn't expected to play for the Raiders at Denver. This was clear yesterday when he was downgraded to doubtful. Poor matchup for Crabtree anyway, so now you don't even need to consider him.

  • Melvin Gordon (knee) is expected to play for the Chargers. They're playing the Eagles in what could be an offense-dominated type of contest.

  • Rex Burkhead (ribs) won't play.

  • John Brown is expected to play for the Cardinals but with limited snaps. This was also expected. Favorable matchup with San Francisco, but Brown will need to make an impact without being out there full-time, making him a risky choice.

  • Carlos Hyde is expected to play through a hip injury for the 49ers. So don't use backup Matt Breida. The matchup with Arizona isn't great and there's some risk of him aggravating the injury, so I'm leaning toward replacing him with a healthier player with less upside but (hopefully) a safer floor.
