Eagles host Washington tonight, and I like the odds of Zach Ertz doing something special. He’s developing into maybe the best tight end in the league. He’s really talented, and they use him a lot.

There are some other great tight ends, of course – Rob Gronkowski, Jordan Reed and Tyler Eifert have been special at times – but all of those tight ends have had problems staying healthy. With Reed and Eifert, we’re now getting to where they’ve both also gone for too long without being special. Greg Olsen has been great for lot of years, but he’s 32 and sidelined right now with a broken foot. Travis Kelce catches lots of passes but hasn’t been a great scorer.

Ertz seems to have the right mix of everything. He catches lots of passes, and with the Eagles emerging as a legit contender with an upper level offense, I think he can be counted on now to also score touchdowns.

Ertz has been pretty special in his last 16 games, catching 101 passes for 1,090 yards and 8 TDs. That’s in a season’s worth of work.
