It's time to spend time with friends and family while trying to find topics of conversation that won't end in an argument. But all fantasy owners and football fans have reasons to be thankful. Here are just a few of mine.

First, I'm thankful for the Rams/Chiefs Monday Night Football game. It cost me a critical win, but as a football fan it doesn't get much better than that.

I'm thankful that the NFL has a third game on the Thanksgiving schedule. Chicago facing Detroit (without Kerryon Johnson and Marvin Jones) and Dallas hosting Washington (with Colt McCoy behind center) sound about as appetizing as tofurkey. No offense to my vegan friends.

Still, Atlanta at New Orleans might not be any better (or the earlier games might be great) but I feel like at least one of these contests should be pretty decent.

I'm thankful for Sean McVay. I'm not a Rams fan, but I love the fact that he held his starters out of the entire preseason and they're still tearing up the league. Maybe that will encourage other teams to do the same thing, and maybe that will encourage the NFL to scale back the preseason. If Canadian Football League teams can get by with two preseason games, why can't NFL teams do the same?

Speaking of the CFL, the Calgary Stampeders (13-5) face the Ottawa Redblacks (11-7) on Sunday in the Grey Cup. Yeah, the CFL adds two regular-season games in place of the missing preseason ones. I'm thankful that there's more football to watch from leagues that have long histories (this is the 106th Grey Cup).

I'm thankful that Florida has finally stopped counting votes almost two weeks after Election Day. We're sorry, everybody. We don't do this stuff on purpose. We're trying. Our three NFL teams are a combined 11-19, so have a little sympathy.

I'm thankful for guys like Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees and Tom Brady. While Goff, Mahomes and Watson look like staples of future playoff seasons, they'll be joined by some of the old guard for at least one more season. Watching some (or most) of them compete in the playoffs should be fun.

I'm thankful for the Los Angeles Chargers. Their home games are good opportunities for opposing fans to finally see their favorite team. Good seats still available!

I'm thankful that Andrew Luck is playing football at such a high level. I honestly thought he wouldn't be right this year, but he's exceeded expectations. He's not on any of my teams, but it's great to see a true talent get a chance to compete in the NFL.

I'm thankful that one of my leagues never makes trades. This has been a frustrating year in other leagues with regard to weird deals. In one, a one-win team traded great players to a playoff-bubble team. Does it matter that they're boyfriend and girlfriend? I was skeptical.

I was equally skeptical when a one-win team (whose owner had abandoned it weeks ago) all of a sudden logged in long enough to trade Gurley to a one-loss team who was trying to shore up their playoff roster. The trade itself wasn't really lopsided, but what was the incentive to give up their best player when they weren't even paying attention just days before? Was it a strange coincidence that they remembered their password again and became active just in time to help another team solidify their lineup?

It's Thanksgiving, so best not to dwell on it. But maybe no-trade leagues are the way to go.

I'm thankful that I watched "The Haunting of Hill House" on Netflix. The only thing scarier this year has been one of my teams going back and forth between Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston each week. Hello again, Jameis!

(I recommend the show very much. The quarterback carousel? Not at all).

I'm thankful that I'm still competitive despite having Gurley, Goff, Mahomes, Hunt and Hill in exactly zero leagues. How did I miss every single one of these guys in every single league? I don't even have Julio Jones or Adam Thielen anywhere. I don't foresee any titles this year, but it's kind of fun trying to dodge the league wrecking balls each week and somehow have a shot at the playoffs.

Finally, I'm thankful that I have a fun hobby that doesn't cost a fortune, isn't dangerous and can be a fun bonding experience with friends and family. Kind of like this holiday. Win or lose, fun isn't always easy to find, so let's enjoy it where and when we can. Happy Thanksgiving!
