Question

What team originally drafted the only quarterback who’s thrown touchdown passes for both the Saints and Rams?

Answer

Houston Oilers. They drafted Jim Everett with the 3rd pick of the 1986 draft, but after the season started and they still hadn’t signed him, they traded him in the middle of September to Los Angeles. Everett played for the Rams for eight years before being shipped to New Orleans, where he went 7-9, 7-9 and 3-12 in three seasons. One other quarterback also started games for both of these teams, Steve Walsh, and he was also originally drafted by a team in Texas (the Cowboys selected him in the supplemental draft with what would become the No. 1 overall pick in 1990). They traded him to the Saints, who could never get him going; Walsh went 10-9 as a starter in four years there. The last three forgettable starts of Walsh’s career came in 1996 with the St. Louis Rams, where he completed only 43 percent of his passes, with no touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
