It’s a sight that Jacksonville Jaguars fans don’t want to see. Trevor Lawrence tried to put weight on his ankle but couldn’t during their Week 13 Monday Night Football showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jaguars offensive lineman Walker Little inadvertently stepped on Lawrence’s ankle after Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson pushed him. That forced the quarterback’s leg to bend awkwardly, leaving him on the ground for a while.

However, Lawrence was experiencing intense pain, that he opted to stay on the ground. He threw his helmet after taking it off in frustration. Worst yet, the Jaguars didn’t bring out a cart to transport Lawrence to the sideline and the locker room.

The former Clemson standout was doing well before the injury, completing 22 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He also sneaked in for a one-yard rushing touchdown to keep the Jaguars in the game. But his condition has Jaguars fans worried about their franchise quarterback.

But Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson shared some positive news after Trevor Lawrence was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. He added that while Lawrence’s ankle is stable, his return remains uncertain. Therefore, his status for Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns is day-to-day, but his injury isn’t season-ending.

Lawrence is expected to work round the clock to rehabilitate his injured ankle. The Jaguars might find it challenging to clinch a playoff spot without him. While they still have a shot at the AFC’s top seed and Wild Card Round bye, the Indianapolis Colts are just one game behind them in the AFC South race.

After their loss to Cincinnati, Trevor Lawrence has 271 completions for 3,004 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also has 248 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The third-year player has also completed 67.9 percent of his passes through 13 weeks.

They will face the Baltimore Ravens at home in Week 15 before going on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans. Sandwiched between those games is a home matchup versus the Carolina Panthers.
