Around the NFL: Adrian Peterson

Washington signed Adrian Peterson to a veteran's minimum deal last week. He's 33 years old and averaged 3.4 yards per carry across two teams last season, so his best football is behind him. But after watching his debut with Washington last night, it looks like he can still play.   more »

Around the NFL: Washington signing Peterson

I am not a big fan of Adrian Peterson (who is joining Washington). He’s 33 years old, and that’s awfully long in the tooth for a running back. Everyone hits the end of the road.  more »

Around the NFL: Chris Thompson

Washington used a second-round pick to draft Derrius Guice, and he's an excellent runner; runs with power and an edge. In early rookie drafts, he's been the No. 2 pick in most that I've seen, behind only Saquon Barkley.   more »

Factoid: Pass-catching running backs

There’s a reboot underway in Washington, with Alex Smith taking over for Kirk Cousins at quarterback. Samaje Perine probably will be their starting tailback, and he hardly played in the first half of last year. But Chris Thompson quietly should be a huge part of that offense.   more »

The Texans are matched up with a poor 49ers pass defense this week. San Francisco has placed several defensive backs on IR, contributing to them allowing 21 TD passes -- multiple touchdowns through the air in six straight weeks until facing Mitchell Trubisky, which maybe shouldn't count. DeAndre Hopkins should be great. But who else?  more »
