Browns not ready to honor Johnson trade request

Browns to roll with “hot hand” at running back

Cleveland running backs coach Freddie Kitchens says the Browns will plan to ride the “hot hand” this season when it comes to the team’s backfield. The Browns backfield is somewhat crowded after signing CARLOS HYDE, drafting NICK CHUBB, and giving DUKE JOHNSON a contract extension.

Browns extend RB Johnson

Cleveland running back DUKE JOHNSON signed a three-year contract extension with the Browns late last week. Johnson will join veteran running back CARLOS HYDE and rookie rusher NICK CHUBB in what looks to be a crowded backfield in Cleveland.

Duke Johnson to play as slot receiver for Browns

Cleveland Browns running back DUKE JOHNSON looks like he could make a move to slot receiver this season, possibly replacing ANDREW HAWKINS in that role. Johnson has been an effective running back but his specialty has been catching passes out of the backfield.
