Around the NFL: Marshall in the red zone?

The Seahawks have signed Brandon Marshall, and the beat writer for the Seattle Times pokes around the idea that they might be looking to use Marshall in the red zone. He’s really big, much like Jimmy Graham, who was the league’s busiest receiver inside the 10 last year.  more »

Around the NFL: Green Bay Packers

The Packers signed veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis yesterday. Maybe it's coincidental, but I wonder if the timing had anything to do with the Chargers (perhaps) having an interest, losing Hunter Henry this week. Maybe not. In any case, it's a signing which suggests Green Bay's offense will be different this year.   more »

Factoid: Goal-line Jimmy Graham

I’m not a big Jimmy Graham fan. He drops too many passes, and I didn’t think he was a difference maker with the Seahawks. But they’re going to have to play a lot differently around the end zone now that he’s not around.  more »

Packers add Graham, release Nelson

The Green Bay Packers released veteran wide receiver JORDY NELSON in a cost-savings move this week. Around the NFL: Not your older brother's Packers

The Packers signed a couple of big-ticket free agents yesterday, Jimmy Graham and Muhammad Wilkerson. They also released Jordy Nelson, another somewhat surprising move. It's a reminder that Ted Thompson, who made the decisions for more than a decade in a conservative, free-agency averse style, isn't calling the shots anymore.   more »

Factoid: Graham headed for free agency

Jimmy Graham is going to be a free agent, and I don’t expect the Seahawks will make much of an effort to re-sign him. They’ve got a lot of other, more pressing needs, and Graham fell short of what they were hoping for when they made the big trade with the Saints a few years back.  more »
