Coleman the favorite for early touches in San Francisco

With San Francisco running back JERICK MCKINNON still recovering from ACL surgery, new running back TEVIN COLEMAN is expected to get the most touches out of the 49ers backfield. MATT BREIDA and RAHEEM MOSTERT are also options, but they have been unable to participate in OTAs thus far.

Around the NFL: 49ers backfield

The 49ers have a crowded backfield: the guy they signed last year, the guy they signed this year, and their most effective back last season. Question is which if any of those players -- Jerick McKinnon, Tevin Coleman, Matt Breida -- will emerge as the main running back.   more »

Breida to have role in crowded backfield

San Francisco running back MATT BREIDA thinks he can do even better in 2019 than he did during a breakout season last year. It sounds like Breida will have the chance,More despite the presence of JERICK MCKINNON and TEVIN COLEMAN. McKinnon is recovering from a torn ACL and Coleman was added via free agency in the offseason. Head coach Kyle Shanahan says that three capable ballcarriers is a luxury, not a problem. Shanahan apparently does not play fantasy football. Less

Fantasy News: Gus Edwards

I liked the way Gus Edwards played last year. He’s a big, decisive, downhill runner, and he proved to be an effective complement to Lamar Jackson late last year.   more »

Factoid: Tevin Coleman

Tevin Coleman is headed for free agency. Any takers? He’s shown some playmaking ability the last four years for the Falcons.   more »
