The general consensus is that Calvin Johnson is pretty much unstoppable around the goal line. With his size, you can just throw it up, and he'll outfight any defensive back for the ball.

He's just too big and too good to cover.

But when you look closer at the actual numbers, that's not really the case.

In fact, if you look at the 37 players who had more than 5 passes thrown their way inside the 10 last year (and this is hard to believe), Johnson was actually the LEAST LIKELY TO SCORE.

Seriously.

Detroit threw him 10 passes when it was inside the 10 last year, and only one of those passes resulted in a touchdown. Really. And I double-checked the numbers. This is Calvin Johnson -- Bryant Johnson doesn't play there anymore.

Inside the 10, Megatron caught 3 of the 10 passes thrown his way, and only 1 of those catches went for a touchdown.

The previous year, he started off the season strong, with short touchdowns in each of his first four games. But in the final 12 games, he was only 2 of 7 in that area.

Combined 2011-12 numbers (in his last 28 games): 17 pass attempts, 5 catches, 3 TDs.

Not that Johnson isn't a great receiver -- maybe the best in the league. But it's not accurate to call him unstoppable, because plenty of opponents have had some success against him, particulalry in that key area of the field.
