Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel annually offers up a series looking at the top prospects in the NFL Draft, position by position. His quarterback article is up on the site now, and it doesn't paint a pretty picture.

One anonymous executive draws parallels between Jameis Winston and former Raiders bust JaMarcus Russell. Similar builds, a lack of focus in their games (that lead to turnovers), and the fact that Winston's head coach at Florida State was Russell's quarterback coach and offensive coordinator in college.

The recent history of Florida State quarterbacks isn't great either: EJ Manuel, Christian Ponder.

The article paints a pretty grim picture of Winston, though it's worth noting that this is one anonymous executive, who maybe hopes to scare another team away from Winston. There are a lot of reasons why Russell went bust, and blaming his college coach or physique isn't entirely fair.

But, these are among the things the team that selects Winston will have to consider, along with the various off-field issues.

Other tidbits from the article: "After the first two, you're just rolling the dice and hoping you get a backup or something," said one scout. "None of them are any good."

McGinn's story on wide receivers is also of interest; that can be found at this link. Scouts like Amari Cooper more than Kevin White; it will be interesting to see which wideout goes first.

The draft is now just six days away.
