ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that when the Patriots host the Jets today, they'll likely be without Dion Lewis. Lewis has an abdominal injury and isn't expected to be available.

Schefter's tweet can be seen right here. While some might view this as extra reason to start LeGarrette Blount, in fact it will probably benefit a different running back. The Patriots, when they're in passing formations, are most likely to use James White in those sets. He's the one who should see an increase in snaps if Lewis is out.

But the Patriots also have Brandon Bolden, who they could use in some of those formations; they might not fully trust White. So there's some risk in counting on him.

Blount will still get most of the running back rushing attempts, but the Jets have an elite run defense and are very tough to move the ball on that way. It's a matchup where New England is likely to favor the pass. Without Lewis, more passes could go to Danny Amendola.

Get Lewis out of lineups, but be careful not to assume too much of a boost to Blount's matchup.
