Perhaps lost in what was one of the most ridiculous wins in NFL history last night was the way the Packers used their running backs. Not lost, of course, on those who started and got burned by Eddie Lacy.

Lacy came off back-to-back 100-yard rushing performances against the Vikings and Bears, so it stood to reason he'd reclaimed a lead role in the backfield. But he lost a fumble against the Bears, a problem for him this season, and he was fortunate to get credit for a touchdown when he careless tossed the ball away at the goal line.

Neither Lacy nor James Starks did much of anything in the first half of last night's game, and Starks fumbled in the end zone (although teammate Randall Cobb fell on it). Starks caught 5 balls for 45 yards, so he saved his day in PPR for those who tried him out.

But the Packers may have planned on giving work to undrafted free agent John Crockett anyway. They promoted him off the practice squad yesterday afternoon.

"He's a guy that's been working super hard," Mike McCarthy said. "We felt like he deserved an opportunity. Initially, it was more special teams. With his running style, I decided to stick him in there. He gave us a spark."

Crockett carried 5 times for 22 yards in last night's game -- nothing much, but better than Lacy or Starks.

So who starts next week? Well, we'll need to see how the backs are used in practice and what the coaching staff has to say. But it looks like Crockett should be picked up when league waivers unlock, just in case. And if you have Lacy or Starks and an important game in Week 14, better not count on them getting the leading role.

Green Bay plays Dallas next week. It will be interesting to see what the reports are out of practice. Until we get something definitive, it looks like a backfield to avoid.
