The Colts gave Andrew Luck a huge contract in the offseason, and they've used a lot of recent draft picks to try and upgrade the offensive line and protect him. So far, though, it doesn't look like they've succeeded.

Top pick center Ryan Kelly has struggled so far. He's just a rookie, so growing pains early on are to be expected, and chances are he'll be fine. But left guard Jack Mewhort tore his ACL against the Eagles last night, so he's out for the season.

Luck got hurt last season, of course, and took the entire offense down with him. Now he's getting hit a lot in the preseason games. He played well against the Eagles last night, but now the line has lost one of its best players, and the protection issues that have been evident so far in the exhibitions will likely continue.

A bounce-back year for the Colts offense is still reasonable, but they have to keep Luck healthy. For that to happen, Kelly needs to step up, and the rest of the line needs to play better. Without Mewhort.

AFC South defenses suddenly look better than they've been in the past, as well. Houston is good. Jacksonville will definitely be improved. Tennessee looks like it will be too.

Won't be surprising if Colts players fall a little bit in the Update that comes out tomorrow.
