Question

The Patriots have won two of the last three Super Bowls, and they’ve done so with a pair of coordinators who’ll probably become head coaches before long – Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia. What was the last team to win a Super Bowl with two coordinators who later became head coaches? Both served as head coaches for multiple teams, and both made the playoffs multiple times (though one never won a division title).

Answer

San Francisco in 1994. OC Mike Shanahan took the Denver job in 1995, winning two Super Bowls, and later coached at Washington. DC Ray Rhodes took over in Philadelphia in 1995, winning a wild-card spot twice and later coached Green Bay for a year. Since that time, three teams have won Super Bowls with a coordinator who would later become a head coach and a coordinator who previously had served as a head coach (the Steelers twice and the Giants).
