The Ezekiel Elliott suspension is back on, at least until another appeal delays it again. But at this point, that seems less likely to happen; best guess is that Elliott will need to sit out the next six games. Jerry Jones indicates that those who banked on Alfred Morris as the replacement will be the winners.

Morris has been the No. 2 all season, with Darren McFadden inactive. But some close to the team believed that it was only to keep McFadden healthy and fresh, and that he would lead the way once Elliott wasn't available. But Jones told Dallas News reporter Jon Machota that Morris will get more carries, with McFadden and Rod Smith also playing more.

Some could look at Jones' words as inconclusive; it could be a "hot-hand" approach where all three play, and probably will be. But Morris has been effective as the No. 2 this season, averaging 8.1 yards per carry. Small sample set (just 13 attempts) and helped greatly by one 70-yard run. But the lean is that Morris will start, McFadden getting some carries and playing in passing situations and Smith will be a little-used change-of-pace. At least until one of the backs ahead of him gets hurt.

The story isn't over, but right now it appears that Elliott will be out this week, with Morris starting and McFadden playing behind him. That's what the Weekly will likely indicate.
