Every Saturday morning, I'll take a quick look at all the week's games, offering my own brief take on what I think will happen, as well as touching on significant injury news since our Weekly came out. I'll check in every so often over the course of the day to answer lineup questions, too.

Welcome back to another year. What follows is a brief look at all the games with how I'd react in my own lineups to injury developments or other news. The official rankings are the ones in the Weekly. Those are the ones that subscribers are paying for, and should take precedence. But sometimes players are very close, and in those cases I'm glad to offer opinions on how I'd approach those situations. Sometimes I like certain players more or less than Ian, and sometimes I have different risk tolerance with injuries etc.

If a guy is 20 spots higher in the rankings, that's a question you probably don't need to ask. Trust the rankings. If I don't get to your question right away, fear not -- I'll get to it by the end of the day Saturday. Sunday morning might be too late, sorry; we try to post news if there's a surprise inactive/suspension etc. OK, on to the games.

Rams at Panthers: Decent enough situation for a higher-scoring game. With no Rams and few Panthers getting much playing time in August, there's the rust factor to worry about. But that's a league-wide thing so I think you start your regular starters. Impressive rookie in the preseason was Panthers pass rusher Brian Burns, and apparently he'll start, so he's a guy to watch. And those Panthers wideouts who you probably drafted somewhere. And we're all wondering how much Todd Gurley will play.

Titans at Browns: With the Browns, you're wondering if all the hype for their offense is legit. With the Titans, the question is if they'll just give Derrick Henry 25 carries and try to win that way. I'm cool (ice cold, actually) on their offense, but some chance Henry has a good game. Browns have a lot of intriguing offensive players, and since Beckham has some sort of hip issue, be nice to see him looking like a difference maker. I'm starting him.

Kansas City at Jacksonville: I'm not a slave to "Don't bench your studs," but if you drafted Patrick Mahomes, you'd better have a really, really good option to bench him in Week 1. I have him one league and I'm using him. Not a great matchup, but he's Mahomes. I'm also using Damien Williams, stubbornly refusing to believe that LeSean McCoy will have a huge role. We'll see. For the Jaguars, I drafted Leonard Fournette in one league, after not thinking I ever would. He could be very good in this game. And if you read us you probably have Dede Westbrook on your team, go ahead and use him too.

Ravens at Dolphins: I've felt the Ravens defense would take a step back this year, but this probably won't be the week where it happens. I won't go overboard picking on Miami but truly the only option here I'd remotely consider is their defense. For Baltimore, pretty much just Mark Ingram and their defense and kicker. I know some will be starting Lamar Jackson and Mark Andrew, but for me it's hands off until I see something positive.

Falcons at Vikings: As discussed in the Weekly, tough matchup for Atlanta. I have Matt Ryan and Austin Hooper on most teams, you probably have them somewhere too, but I'm looking for other options. A la Russell Wilson and just maybe even Josh Allen, although that might be a little risky. I just don't really want to use Ryan. Stefon Diggs showed up as questionable (hamstring) and there's some risk there. Gotta make certain he's active, and then maybe sub him out if you've got a guy close to him in the rankings.

Bills at Jets: Sounds like Robby Anderson (calf) is good to go. LeVeon Bell is apparently in line for his usual workload; if you drafted him, go ahead. Bills should use a committee at running back. I like Devin Singletary as a guy to roster, but not necessarily start just yet. No Chris Herndon or Tyler Kroft. This has the makings of a defensive type struggle so don't get too crazy, though I am considering Allen (for his running ability basically). Bills have a good defense and I'm not sure either will have a great offense.

Washington at Eagles: I made the Eagles my Survivor Pool pick. I will occasionally discuss my pools. I also like Seattle, and a relative picked Cleveland. My general survivor rules: home teams. Good defenses. And don't get too cute "saving" teams, especially in Week 1. Getting through to the next week, that's my focus (hence the name Survivor), especially in openers where there are often upsets. Eagles, I really only like Wentz and Ertz on this team. A lot of wide receivers and a running back committee. Washington should be terrible. Evidently Derrius Guice will start and Adrian Peterson might even be inactive, if reports can be believed. Chris Thompson (PPR) looks viable. Jordan Reed (concussion) still iffy, if you drafted him you can't say you didn't see this coming.

Colts at Chargers: Potentially these are two of the AFC's best teams. But the Colts have the quarterback question and the Chargers have left tackle and running back concerns. For me, I'd use the Colts I would have used with Luck: Hilton, Ebron, Mack, and take my chances. For the Chargers, Allen, Williams, Henry, and Ekeler. And Rivers. I have Justin Jackson everywhere, but I'm not using him this week -- want to make sure he gets half the workload before trying him. Should be an entertaining game and I've got a couple of shares of Henry so here's hoping. I have a lot of Chargers Defense stock, too.

Bengals at Seahawks: Nothing too dramatic injury-wise. No A.J. Green, obvs. Seahawks should be able to run the ball with Chris Carson and I guess they're still trying to make Rashaad Penny happen (though I wouldn't use him). Tyler Lockett should see a lot of targets. Concerned Cincinnati's offense will struggle which could limit what Seattle needs to do, too. But Mixon and Boyd should be fine, busy. Seattle seems like a decent Survivor pick, as noted.

Lions at Cardinals: Everyone will be checking out this one. Hard to know what we'll get out of the Arizona offense. Anything is possible, but David Johnson is the only guy I'd really want to start here. Christian Kirk drafted as a starter so maybe, maybe Kyler Murray, maybe Larry Fitzgerald. But for me, I want to see them in action before using any of them. With Detroit, Kerryon and Golladay and maybe Marvin Jones, maybe T.J. Hockenson. Again, I like to reserve unknown commodities in Week 1 whenever I can. I am expecting a higher-scoring game, basically all of Arizona's games should/may be higher scoring.

Giants at Cowboys: These teams play a lot in Week 1, Week 2. As the week has worn on you've gotten a sense that Elliott will probably play plenty. I'm figuring 60-40 with Pollard and would be willing to use him definitely, Pollard maybe in deeper leagues. Amari Cooper too. Iffy on Gallup. For the Giants, I've got Sterling Shepard everywhere and feel like I got sniped on Evan Engram one or two picks before I would take him in every draft. Pretty sure no one needs advice on starting Barkley and not starting Eli.

49ers at Bucs: Interesting one here. Neither team has a great defense so potentially higher-scoring. But neither offense put much good on tape in the preseason. Bucs running backs look, oh, whatever the kind way of saying "bad" is. I have No. 3 Dare Ogunbowale everywhere, in hopes he emerges once Bruce Arians has seen enough of the Barber-Jones tandem. Matt Breida and Tevin Coleman should be a committee, usable but probably not putting up huge numbers. Starters are Evans, Godwin, Howard, Kittle. I'll steer clear of Niners wideouts for now, but I guess Dante Pettis if you must. I may need to use one of these defenses in a crazy league, cast your vote below!

Steelers at Patriots: Not that this is a bold take, but I'm over the Patriots. I weary of people acting like they're so many million steps ahead of the rest of the league. They're really good. They've had some good fortune. They've done some smart things. Good for them. I'm hoping they fall apart this year. Probably won't. Anyway, they'll win what should be a higher-scoring game here. Brady, Michel, White, Edelman, Gordon, that's it for me this week. Steelers, I guess you try Moncrief as the No. 2. And Roethlisberger-Conner-JuJu-McDonald. Wonder if Bob Kraft will be there and the announcers will discuss his legal issues.

Texans at Saints: Shootout! Maybe. I don't think much of Houston's defense on the road against a good offense. New Orleans is tough on the run but Duke Johnson should catch some balls and Houston's passing game should be productive. No on Keke Coutee, yes on Will Fuller. If you happened to draft Ted Ginn or TreQuan Smith, one of them will probably hit on a big play at some point.

Broncos at Raiders: So, anything happen involving either of these teams since the Weekly came out? Antonio Brown was in, then seemingly out, now he's in again. Still time for more developments. I have no use for the guy, seems to be a head case. Didn't draft him and am at least a little nervous about starting him if I had him. Josh Jacobs should be a full-time running back and I'd use him, and also Phillip Lindsay. Might be more of a committee with Royce Freeman but I'm not sure Freeman's any good. I'd consider both tight ends in deeper leagues. I think Denver's defense is really good so I'd be wary of expecting too much from Oakland's offense. And I'd be following media reports leading up to the game just in case AB does something like post a stupid video or whatnot that has the Raiders re-thinking whether to use him. UPDATE: It remains to be seen if Brown is active or even still on the team by Monday evening.

Feel free to ask questions, I'll get you opinions by the end of the day. Enjoy the games.
