Fantasy News: Waiting on a quarterback

Quarterbacks are a key element in drafts this year. There are a lot of very good ones, so you’ve got to be careful where you pick them. There definitely will be some good values at this position. I had a chance to do some field research on this topic in a best-ball draft on the website last week.   more »

Fantasy News: Jay Gruden profile

For fantasy purposes, I consider Jay Gruden to be the more appealing of the Gruden brothers. I like the way he attacks defenses, and there are no concerns about him being away from the sideline for years.   more »

Smith developing trust in WR Crowder

New Washington quarterback ALEX SMITH may already have a favorite target in slot receiver JAMISON CROWDER. Factoid: Smith and Cousins

Which quarterback do you like better, Kirk Cousins or Alex Smith? Cousins owns the larger contract, but Smith isn’t far back and didn’t have the benefit of being an unrestricted free agent. Jay Gruden says he expects Washington will be better at quarterback this year. “Without a doubt,” he says.   more »

Trivia: April 9, 2018

Alex Smith and Vernon Davis were both first-round picks in San Francisco. They played there together for years. Now they’re both with Washington. When was the last time two players were selected in the first round by one team, connected on a touchdown for said team, then combined for a touchdown with a different franchise? answer »

Washington trades for backup QB Hogan

Washington completed a trade with the Cleveland Browns that will bring quarterback KEVIN HOGAN to the team. Hogan actually started one game for the winless Browns last season but he is likely to compete with COLT MCCOY in Washington for the backup job behind new starter ALEX SMITH.

Factoid: Washington's offense

Washington has traded out Kirk Cousins for Alex Smith, but I think the more notable guy there is Jay Gruden. When he’s orchestrating an offense, passing production tends to be good.  more »

Factoid: Alex Smith in Washington

The 2017 season is in the rearview mirror (barely) so we can start looking forward to 2018. The Eagles are the Super Bowl champions, and if form holds, they’ll open the season at home in the league’s kickoff game. Possible opponents include the Falcons, Panthers, Texans, Colts and Vikings, as well as their three divisional opponents – Dallas, New York, Washington.   more »

Washington quarterback KIRK COUSINS said he was surprised to learn of the trade his team made this week to acquire ALEX SMITH from Kansas City. With Smith now on board in Washington, Cousins will be looking for a new team when he becomes a free agent on March 14th.
