Lawrence expects to be ready for season opener

Dallas defensive end DEMARCUS LAWRENCE, with his new five-year deal in place, was expected to have surgery yesterday to repair a torn labrum. Rehab begins today, and Lawrence expects to return before the beginning of the season. The procedure typically comes with a 4 to 6 month timetable for recovery.

The Dallas Cowboys signed defensive end DEMARCUS LAWRENCE to a new contract that will keep him with the team for the next five years. Around the NFL: Cowboys lock up Lawrence

Dallas did a deal with pass rusher Demarcus Lawrence yesterday. He'd said he wouldn't play under the franchise tag again, and now he won't have to. Lawrence, Cowboys fail to reach long-term deal

The Dallas Cowboys and star defensive lineman DEMARCUS LAWRENCE failed to come to terms on a new, long-term deal by Monday’s deadline. Lawrence will now play the 2018 season under the franchise tag, as expected. He will become a free agent after the 2018 season.

DE’s Ansah, Lawrence likely headed for franchise tag

Detroit Lions defensive end EZEKIAL ANSAH and Dallas Cowboys defensive end DEMARCUS LAWRENCE appear unlikely to reach long-term deals with their respective teams before this afternoon’s deadline. Barring a significant turn of events, both players are expected to play on the franchise tag this year.

Factoid: One-man pass rushes

Last week Dallas executive VP Stephen Jones said that pass rusher Demarcus Lawrence won't be going anywhere. (He hasn't been nearly as definitive about Dez Bryant.) Dallas has until March 6 to franchise Lawrence, if they're unable to work out a long-term deal. Jones' words suggest they'll do just that.   more »
