One of the issues with the Fantasy Index Open is how to score it. If you attach a value to each of the players graded, the busts tend have a big impact – Tony Romo, Keenan Allen, Jamaal Charles. Those players can overshadow what happens with the more successful players.  more »

With the way we score the Fantasy Index Open, it wasn’t crucially important whether you made Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck or Cam Newton your No. 1 quarterback (even though Rodgers killed those guys). More important was avoiding using all-important picks on statistical flops like Tony Romo, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Teddy Bridgewater.  more »

Normally with the Fantasy Index Open, winners at the positions are of the marginal variety – a slight edge here, or a few points there. But not so at the wide receiver position. Steve Moyer of Oakland, Calif., blew away everyone. He beat everyone else by over 1,000 points. He beat all but seven of the other 221 entries by over 2,000.  more »

Winning a category in the Fantasy Index Open requires some of the same skills as winning a regular fantasy league. You to make some key picks, being higher than most on a couple of the up-and-coming players, and you need to have the foresight to avoid some of the duds. Edward Burke of Philadelphia did the best job at running back, with DeMarco Murray being his key pick.   more »
